Matchitecture is a construction model hobby concept invented in the early 90's by a notable model kit maker Roland Quinton. The matchsticks used in Matchitecture are called microbeams.
|
Matchitecture
Is an easy and exciting technique; built from a single construction element, the microbeam (match stick),
this provides the builders greatest challenge. You simply use the templates (plans) provided to cut the microbeams to the
correct length, and glue them together. The kit contains everything needed to get the job done.
Matchstick models are scale models made from matches. With Matchitecture regular matches are not used, but a special
modeling type which do not have the combustible heads, and can be bought from art and craft shops. The matches are cut
by means of a sharp knife and fixed together using glue, often being held in place by cardboard "formers" until the glue
is dry. Many kits are available, consisting of instructions, pre-cut card formers and sufficient modeling matches for
the project. A number of hobbyists prefer to build their models from scratch.
